    01-26-2011 Inscription Leveling Guide 1-150

    Once you have chosen Inscription as one of your professions, it is time to start leveling it up. You will need to start by finding your nearest trainer. Visit Alliance Inscription Trainers or Horde Inscription Trainers to find where they will be. Inscription uses huge volumes of herbs to make pigments with, so you will need to be an Herbalist or have a huge sum of gold to level up this profession. Additionally, you will need to buy an Ink Bottle along with the various parchments you will need and stacks of 5 herbs each to make your pigments before creating your Glyphs.
    Below is a detailed walk-through on how to level Inscription 1-150 quickly and easily. This Inscription 1-150 guide is as complete as I can make it but some players may have to purchase extra materials due to sometimes not getting a point from a yellowed item or milling not netting all the required materials. Some players may also find that making different items is more beneficial for resale.

    Raw Materials for Leveling:

    The following raw materials will be used to level up Inscription to 450. The numbers are not exact as they are designed to ensure you ge the minimum you need to proc rare pigments for high level glyphs to level up with. Here is a complete list of what you will need. Click on any of the herbs to see where you can find them by zone along with links to complete zone maps for gathering (stacks are groups of 5 herbs):

    •50-75 Stacks of Alabaster Pigment Herbs for Glyphs and Minor Inscription Research – Includes Peacebloom, Silverleaf, and Earthroot    

    •20-30 Stacks of Dusky Pigment Herbs for Glyphs – Includes Mageroyal, Briarthorn, Swiftthistle, Bruiseweed, and Stranglekelp    

    •50-60 Stacks of Gold Pigment Herbs for Glyphs – Includes Wild Steelbloom, Grave Moss, Kingsblood, and Liferoot    

    •75 Stacks of Emerald Pigment Herbs for Glyphs – Includes Fadeleaf, Goldthorn, Khadgar’s Whisker, and Wintersbite    

    •30 Stacks of Violet Pigment Herbs for Glyphs – Includes Firebloom, Purple Lotus, Arthas’ Tears, Sungrass, Blindweed, Ghost Mushroom, and Gromsblood    

    •40 Stacks of Silvery Pigment Herbs for Glyphs – Includes Golden Sansam, Dreamfoil, Mountain Silversage, Plaguebloom, and Icecap    

    •40 Stacks of Nether Pigment Herbs for Glyphs – Includes Ragveil, Felweed, Dreaming Glory, Terocone, Nightmare Vine, Netherbloom, Mana Thistle, and Ancient Lichen    

    •200 Stacks of Azure Pigment Herbs for Glyphs – Includes Tiger Lily, Talandra’s Rose, Goldclover, Deadnettle, Adder’s Tongue, Lichbloom, Icethorn, and Frost Lotus
    Consider these the minimum numbers of stacks you will need for each herb – you might need more than this as you go along.

    Level 1-75

    Train as an Apprentice in Inscription and buy the items you need to get started. Mill 100 Alabaster Pigments from 40-50 Stacks of Alabaster Level Herbs, then craft the following to reach Level 75:

    •Create 20 Ivory Ink using 20 Alabaster Pigments to reach level 20
    •Create 15 Level 1 Scrolls using 1 Ivory Ink and 1 Light Parchment to reach Level 35
    •Create 25 Moonglow Ink using 50 Alabaster Pigments to reach level 55
    •Create 20 Armor Vellums using 1 Moonglow Ink and 1 Light Parchment to reach elvel 75

    Level 75-150

    Train as a Journeyman in Inscription and pick up your Minor Inscription Skill. You can use this every 20 hours to pick up a new Minor Glyph recipe and to boost your leveling speed. You will need extra Alabaster Pigments for these and should be using it every 20 hours to boost your skill as you go. Mill 20 stacks of Dusky Pigment Herbs and 50 stacks of Golden Pigment Herbs while you are at it.

    •Create 20 Midnight Ink using 2 Dusky Pigment each to reach Level 80
    •Create any 10 Major Glyphs with 1 Midnight Ink and 1 Light Parchment to reach level 90
    •Create 10 of the new Major Glyphs you acquired using 1 Midnight Ink and 1 Light Parchment to reach level 100
    •Create 60 Lion’s Ink with Golden Pigment to reach level 105
    •Create 20 Major Glyphs with 1 Lion’s Ink and 1 Common Parchment to reach Level 125
    •Create 15 Dawnstar Ink with Burnt Pigment to reach Level 130
    •Create 5 Glyphs using 2 Lion’s Ink and 1 Common Parchment to reach Level 135
    •Create 30 Glyphs using 2 Lion’s Ink and 1 Common Parchment to reach Level 150
