World of Warcraft: Paladin Reaches Level 85 in Cataclysm

World of Warcraft: Cataclysm (formerly known as World of Warcraft: Worldbreaker), the newest expansion set for the MMORPG, went live at 3AM in North America yesterday morning, but European players got a nine hour head-start because of the time difference.
Because of that small advantage, I guess it’s not really a shock that Kotaku is reporting that a European player was the first to hit the new 85 level cap. What is surprising is that it only took six hours for the cap to be reached.
WoW power player Athena, who changed his handle to Forscience, was able to take his Paladin to level 85 with the help of some friends and an almost unnatural devotion to the game.
The new expansion pack raised the level cap from 80 to 85, and introduced two new races – the worgen for the Alliance and goblins for the Horde. Some new high-level zones were introduced and a couple of classic zones have been remade. There are also some new Race/Class combos and more raid content.
There’s already some buzz around some gaming forums that Forscience might have taken advantage of certain weak spots in game strategy to hit the new mark in such a small amount of time, in addition to possibly having an unfair WoW advantage by portraying a female in the virtual environment.
I think it could just be a serious case of gamer envy. Like the old saying goes, all’s fair in love and war. I guess it needs to be updated to say all’s fair in love and Warcraft.
